Contemporaneamente inaugureranno la galleria Raffaella Cortese con T.J. Wilcox e la galleria francesca kaufmann con Thomas Zipp.
Il 29 gennaio verrà inaugurata alla galleria Giò Marconi la prima personale di Wade Guyton in Italia, allestita al piano terra della galleria.
Wade Guyton presenta una nuova serie di lavori che l'artista casualmente descrive come "righe".
I lavori sono riprodotti stampando lo stesso file digitale almeno due volte sulla medesima tela di lino piegata. Le strisce nere sono disegnate con Photoshop.
Sembrano essere un dettaglio ingrandito di uno dei suoi monocromi neri in cui metà delle testine sono ostruite in modo da produrre delle righe larghe nere e bianche che somigliano ad un costume da bagno indossato da una modella nel suo poster Portikus, un'immagine trovata.
Il processo è simile a quello dei precedenti lavori. La stampante Epson 9600 Ultrachrome che egli utilizza ha una capacità media di 44 pollici.
L'artista piega il lino pre-caricato e alterna la stampa su fronte/retro e destra/sinistra. Ogni pezzo trascrive una documentazione visuale dell'operato della stampante: la traccia del movimento delle testine di stampa, gli stati variabili dell'otturazione delle stesse, le tracce delle ruote del rullo sull'inchiostro bagnato insieme alle stropicciature che l'opera subisce dopo essere stata trascinata sul pavimento per essere riposizionata nella stampante.
Wade Guyton è nato nel 1972 a Hammond, Indiana. Vive e lavora a New York.

On Thursday, the 29th of November, Gió Marconi will be pleased to present Wade Guyton's solo exhibition at the gallery groundfloor.
Wade Guyton presents a new major series of works the artist casually describes as "stripes".
The works are produced by printing the same digital file at least twice on each piece of folded linen. The black stripes are drawn in Photoshop.
They appear to be an enlarged detail of one of his black monochromes in which half of the heads are clogged producing wide black and white stripes - or gaps. And they resemble a striped bathing suit worn by a model used in his Portikus poster- a found image.
The process is similar to his previous works. The Epson 9600 Ultrachrome printer he uses has a media capacity of 44 inches.
The artist folds the pre-primed linen and alternates printing on front/ back, left/right. Each piece transcribes a visual record of the printer's actions: the trace of movement of the print heads, the varying states of their clogged-ness, the track marks of the wheels on wet ink are all mixed with the scratches and smears on the paintings from being dragged across the floor to be fed back again into the printer.
Wade Guyton was born in 1972 in Hammond, Indiana. He obtained BFA at University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
