Il prossimo 28 Aprile verrà inaugurata alla Gió Marconi la mostra John Bock, Inside Beyond.
Si tratta di un progetto molto articolato che vede impegnato l'artista, la cui ultima presenza con una mostra personale alla Giò Marconi risale al 2003, e che prevede una performance d'apertura, film, sculture e disegni.
John Bock traformerà l'intero piano terra dello spazio di Via Tadino 15 in un grande apparato scenico per la sua Performance, o meglio, Lecture, come l' artista preferisce definirla.
Si tratta della sua prima Lecture dopo quella tenuta a Miami nel dicembre del 2006 e si svolgerà per tutta la durata dell'inaugurazione: lo spettatore varcando una porta cilindrica e attraversando stretti cunicoli rossi che richiamano le arterie del corpo umano, entrerà in contatto diretto con l'artista che eseguirà una serie di performances durante le quali sparirà per brevi intervalli di tempo.
Un film/performance sperimentale, costituito da otto proiezioni che si rifanno a precedenti performances di John Bock e di due attrici ambientate e nel suo studio e all'aperto, sarà installato in un'altra sala della galleria.
La mostra oltre all'installazione e alle performances presenterà anche due film realizzati dall'artista, The Palms e Inside Beyond, una serie di disegni preparatori e due sculture.
John Bock dopo aver sperimentato l'uso del linguaggio narrativo nei suoi lavori più recenti, ritorna con questa personale, alla sua natura di performer.
John Bock è nato a Gribborn nel 1965, vive e lavora a Berlino. Numerose istituzioni gli hanno dedicato mostre personali tra le quali La Fondazione Trussardi di Milano, il Museum of Modern Art di New York, il Kunstwerke di Berlino, la Kunsthalle di Basilea, la Secession di Vienna e l’ICA di Londra. Ha partecipato con le sue performance, le sue sculture e i suoi film alle più importanti rassegne d’arte contemporanea internazionali tra le quali due edizioni della Biennale di Venezia, Manifesta 5 a San Sebastian, la Triennale di Yokohama e Documenta di Kassel.

The 28th of April Gió Marconi gallery will inaugurate John Bock’s exhibition, Inside Beyond.It’s a very articulated project, where the artist, at his second solo-show at the gallery (the first one was in 2003), will execute an opening performance, and will show sculptures and drawings.
John Bock will turn the ground floor of the gallery into a great display for his Performance, or Lecture as he prefers to define it.
It’s his first Lecture after the one executed in Miami in 2006 and it will last all through the opening : the spectator crossing a cylindrical door and going through narrow tunnels similar to human body’s arteries, will make contact with the artist, who will do a series of performance, during which he will disappear for some moments.
In another room of the gallery will be set up an experimental film/performance, made by eight projections that make references to a previous performance by John Bock and two actresses set in his studio and in the open air.
The exhibition will present, besides the installation and the performances, also two films made by the artist, The Palms and Inside Beyond, and a series of preparatory drawings and two sculptures.
John Bock, after having experimented the narrative language in his late works, with this solo-show comes back to his performer nature.
