La galleria Giò Marconi è lieta di presentare Couleur et Fabrication, seconda personale dedicata all’artista americano Wade Guyton.
La mostra, presentata negli spazi del seminterrato della galleria, propone una selezione di 44 ‘disegni’ realizzati da Guyton nel 2009.
Nel 2003 l’artista ha iniziato a utilizzare stampanti economiche per imprimere immagini su pagine strappate da riviste di design, arte e architettura, tutte datate tra gli anni Venti e gli anni Ottanta, per realizzare “disegni stampati”.
Per questa particolare serie di opere Guyton ha tratto le immagini da un catalogo di lampade italiane degli anni Sessanta, segnandole con linee geometriche differenziate cromaticamente.
Ha iniziato questo corpus di lavori intervenendo sulle pagine attraverso una stampante a getto d'inchiostro deskjob, usando così la sua tradizionale tecnica utilizzata anche per le tele di grandi dimensioni.
Per Guyton l'azione del 'disegnare' o 'dipingere' è filtrata attraverso l'intervento della macchina - stampante - che da sempre contribuisce in modo significativo al risultato finale.
Guyton dialoga direttamente con il libro e con gli oggetti che popolano le sue pagine: l’immagine viene separata – fisicamente strappata - dal contesto e successivamente rielaborata mediante l’inserimento a computer di puri elementi geometrici che si accavallano e si giustappongono al soggetto, creando una figurazione quasi di stampo avanguardistico, memore della lezione del costruttivismo russo e delle sperimentazioni che dal Bauhaus ci portano alla definizione della poetica astratta degli anni Trenta.
Couleur et Fabrication sono i due elementi principali composizioni di Guyton.
Per l’occasione verrà presentato un libro d’artista contenente la riproduzione delle opere in mostra.
Wade Guyton è nato nel 1972 ad Hammond, Indiana. Vive e lavora a New York.
Nel corso degli ultimi anni il suo lavoro è stato presentato in diverse istituzioni negli Stati Uniti e in Europa; mostre personali di Guyton sono state ospitate presso: Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Deurle; Portikus, Frankfurt; MAMbo, Bologna, Haubrokshows, Berlin; West London Projects, London; Harvard University, Massachusetts; The Kunstverein, Hamburg and La Salle de Bains, Lyon.

For this particular series of works Guyton tore images from an Italian lamp catalogue from the 1960s and marked the pages with differently coloured geometric lines.
He started this body of work by running these already-printed pages through a deskjob inkjet printer – thereby using his traditional ink jet printing technique he also employs for his large scale canvases.
For Guyton the action of 'drawing' or 'painting' is filtered through the intervention of the machine - the printer - which always significantly contributes to the final result.
Guyton dialogues directly with the book and the objects that populate its pages: the image is separated - physically torn - from the context and subsequently revised by the computer’s inserting of pure geometric elements that overlap and, at the same time, are juxtaposed to the subject. He creates a new figuration which is reminiscent of Russian Constructivism and the Bauhaus.

An artist’s book with photographs of the works in the exhibition will be published for the occasion.
